Foster Stained Glass is experienced in all aspects of stained glass including traditional and contemporary leaded stained glass windows, faceted stained glass windows, cast glass architectural details and the repair and restoration of existing stained glass windows.
It is helpful to include a stained glass studio as early as possible in your project so suggestions can be made regarding appropriate design styles suited to the architecture, frame types, and control of light. We provide a very personal approach to our work and work closely with building committees and architects from the initial presentation stage to installation.
Once the type of stained glass window has been decided upon, we feel the design phase of creating a window is of the utmost importance. Once a design goes through several stages and results in an approved final design, the stained glass window will be as exacting as the design. Our staff includes several artists and designers and we also work with outside designers whose artistic styles would complement specific projects.
When restoring or repairing existing stained glass windows, we follow the standards and guidelines for the preservation of historic stained glass windows set forth by the Stained Glass Association of America. These consist of documentation, dismantling, cleaning, dealing with broken and missing glass, repainting, releading, waterproofing, support systems, reinstallation, and protective glazing.
